MURALS IN AUBURN

Murals - In February of 2022, Mayor Anders put together a committee in order to address possible shortcomings in our ordinance concerning the regulation of murals within the City of Auburn. The committee meets every second Monday at 4:30 p.m, and will do so until May. The public is welcome to attend. Contact me for further information (334) 704 3657.

2022 MUNICIPAL ELECTION

I plan to run for a second term, and not much has changed with my position, other than the fact I have nearly four years of experience this time around! Below is my original narrative from 2018:

My decision to run for Auburn City Council Ward 6 came from my regular attendance at City Council, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Adjustment meetings, where oftentimes there seems to be a disconnect between the elected and appointed representatives up on the dais, and the folks out in the neighborhoods they are pledged to represent.

Until the 2018 municipal election, the representatives and appointees making up our Council, Planning Commission, and BZA, have been overwhelmingly involved with real estate, banking, property development, and the construction industry. We all recognize that there is nothing inherently suspect in these professions; taken as a whole they are a vital component of Auburn’s ongoing prosperity. However, our local government, when conducted solely through this lens, runs the risk of eroding the character of our town and neighborhoods -- a character we in Ward 6 know to be a rare and precious commodity in today’s world, and one of the chief reasons we chose to make our homes in this city in the first place.

As your representative, I will:

  • Work diligently to protect the quality of life we treasure.

  • Bring greater transparency and citizen access to local government.

  • Advocate for smarter growth and more judicious development.

  • Welcome wholeheartedly the expertise of the university community.

  • See to it that the "lovely" is never taken from our "loveliest village."
